Fieldhouse Levy Frequently Asked Questions
Check back as questions will continue to be added
Q. Why is this levy needed?
Crestline School District students and athletes do not currently have access to basic facilities such as locker rooms or restrooms near their outdoor sports areas. The new field house will provide a permanent, safe, and functional space for students, teams, and community use.
Q, How will the community ‘pay less and get more’?
Thanks to an expiring bond, residents will pay less than they do now with the passage of the levy in November.
By replacing a bond that’s ending, Crestline can give students and the community a full gym, locker rooms, and restrooms and still lower the overall tax rate.
Q. Why is now the best time to build the field house?
The district has waited over a decade to fulfill this promise. Now is the right time to move forward thanks to smart financial planning. A previously existing bond is set to expire at the end of this year, allowing the district to fund this project with a lower tax rate than residents are currently paying.
With construction costs continuing to rise, delaying the project could mean higher future costs and missed opportunities for students and the community.
Q. What will the new field house include?
This multi-purpose facility is designed to serve students during the school day and be open to the public during non-school hours.
The field house will feature:
A full-size gymnasium
A weight training facility
Indoor Track
A walking track
Locker rooms
Restrooms
Office space for District operations
Concession stand
Basketball Courts, Tennis Courts, Pickleball Courts
Q. Will the community have access to the field house?
Yes. The field house will be open to community members during the hours when students are not using the space. This will provide Crestline residents with year-round access to indoor walking, workouts, and recreation.
Q. How much will this cost residents?
Because an existing bond is expiring, if the new bond is passed in November Crestline residents will actually see a reduction in the total taxes paid.. Even with the construction of the new field house, the overall taxes will be reduced by 27%.
Q. How will this benefit students and the community?
Students will have access to clean, safe locker rooms and training facilities
Crestline athletes will finally have dedicated space for practices, games, and preparation
Community members will gain access track and meeting spaces
The field house will boost school spirit, community pride, and district morale
